Private-label fishing lures let a tackle brand compete on design and margin instead of price alone. This guide explains what can be customised, what it costs in time, and how to brief a factory so the first sample is close to the final product.
What can be customised on an OEM lure order
- Body colour and paint finish: solid colours, gradients, holographic flash, UV-reactive and luminous coatings to match your brand palette.
- Logo and branding: printing or embossing on the body, branded retail packaging, hang tags and stickers.
- Packaging: blister cards, clamshells, printed boxes, PVC bags and export cartons.
- Hooks and hardware: hook brand, wire gauge, anti-rust coating, treble or single hook configuration, split rings and swivels.
- Weights and sizes: the size and weight spread you want to list, not just the factory's standard range.
MOQ for custom work
Custom lures carry a higher minimum than stock items because moulds, paint runs and packaging need to be set up. At Luretrophy a custom design starts at 1,000 pcs per design, while stock models start at 500 pcs per model and colour. If you are testing a market, start with stock colours and a branded hang tag: it keeps the MOQ low while still putting your name on the shelf.
How to brief a factory (what we need from you)
- Target model and size, or a reference sample.
- Colour reference - Pantone numbers, photos or an existing lure.
- Logo file (vector) and where it should appear.
- Packaging format and artwork if you have it.
- Quantity per colour and per size.
- Destination country, so we can confirm labelling and compliance requirements.
Sample and production timeline
Sample lures normally ship within 3-5 working days once the brief is agreed. After you approve the sample, OEM production usually takes 30-45 working days depending on design complexity, painting stages and packaging. Stock-colour orders ship in 7-15 working days.
Export terms and paperwork
We ship by express, air and sea, and quote FOB Guangzhou / Shenzhen / Ningbo, CIF or DDP depending on your preference. Payment is arranged offline by T/T bank transfer or other agreed B2B terms. Documents, inspection photos and certificates are provided on request.
Common mistakes in first OEM orders
- Approving a colour from a screen instead of a physical sample.
- Ordering packaging before the mould and paint are locked.
- Forgetting that export carton markings differ from retail packaging.
- Under-ordering the top-selling colour - repeats carry a second production run.
